Justice Ekerete Akpan of the Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted 21 foreign nationals of high-level cybercrime, imposing a fine of one million Naira on each.

The convicts, from countries such as China, Indonesia, Brazil, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand, reached a plea bargain with the Nigeria Police and were ordered to pay the fines before departing Nigeria within six days. Justice Akpan also ordered the forfeiture of all gadgets used in the crimes to the Federal Government.

These individuals are among 109 foreigners facing charges related to cybercrime, money laundering, and threats to Nigeria’s security. They were initially arraigned in 2024 and remanded in custody pending meeting strict bail conditions.
