Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has identified 9,469 fake admissions conducted outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) for the 2024 academic session across 20 tertiary institutions. Kano State University of Science and Technology topped the list with 2,215 cases, followed by Ladoke Akintola University of Technology with 1,215, and others like Gombe State University (1,164) and Federal University of Technology, Owerri (534).

CAPS ensures transparency and efficiency in admissions, allowing candidates to track their status and ensuring merit-based evaluations.

JAMB has also warned against backdoor admissions, which bar candidates from the National Youth Service Corps. Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa declared such admissions illegal, threatening sanctions, including asset withdrawal and prosecution of involved institutions and individuals.
