Nigerian government, through the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), has issued an alert about widespread outbreaks of infectious diseases, including cholera, dengue fever, Mpox, diphtheria, and yellow fever.

Suspected cholera cases have been reported in 34 states, with Zamfara most affected. Also, Dengue fever has been confirmed in Edo, and yellow fever cases have been recorded in several states, with vaccination as the primary prevention. While Mpox and diphtheria remain ongoing threats, the NCDC calls for urgent action, heightened vigilance, and preventive measures like eliminating mosquito breeding sites and maintaining good hygiene to curb the outbreaks.
