Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed all police commissioners nationwide and in the FCT to provide maximum security for a planned peaceful protest by retired police officers.
The police also cautioned against misinformation and politicization of the protest, which aims to address grievances related to the Contributory Pension Scheme.
The IGP emphasized that the protest should be conducted with dignity and that security forces should ensure it remains peaceful, prevent disruptions by third parties, and respect the rights of the retirees. Police officials were also tasked with maintaining order, safeguarding lives, and upholding institutional integrity during the demonstration.
