Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is currently holding a meeting with protesting retired police officers at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The protesters, mostly elderly, had earlier demonstrated at the National Assembly and besieged the headquarters, demanding their removal from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). Egbetokun assured that their welfare is being addressed but stated that exiting the CPS cannot be implemented immediately. He also urged the protest leaders to avoid spreading false narratives, emphasizing that the Force will not abandon its retired personnel.
