Hundreds of residents from villages in Zamfara State, Nigeria has protested at the Government House in Gusau, demanding action from Governor Dauda Lawal to address ongoing bandit attacks involving killings and kidnappings.

The protesters, led by Malam Ibrahim, reported that bandits impose levies on farmers, with non-compliance leading to death or abduction, forcing many to abandon their homes and farmlands. They accused the state government of inaction despite paying millions in ransoms and levies. The protesters however vowed to remain at the Government House until their demands are met.

Meanwhile Governor Lawal was absent during the protest, and Deputy Governor Malam Mani Mummuni did not respond to journalists.
