Following the severe flooding in Adamawa State, which caused homes to collapse, with at least eight confirmed deaths and many missing, other Nigerian states have been mandated to take proactive measures to prevent similar disasters.

The floods, triggered by heavy rains starting around 1 a.m., affected communities like Shagari and Sabon Pegi, washing away over 600 houses.

In the meantime, Rescue efforts are ongoing, with victims’ bodies recovered and taken to hospitals. Authorities are also clearing drainage, assessing dam safety, and raising public awareness as meteorological warnings indicate a potentially severe flood season nationwide.
