National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Akwa Ibom has warned the public about the spread of fake N1000 notes in the coastal areas of Udung Uko, Mbo, Oron, Okobo, and Ibeno.
According to NOA State Director, Mr. Mkpoutom Mkpoutom he noted that syndicates are targeting local markets during peak hours to defraud POS operators and traders using counterfeit notes with batch numbers 364232 and 898248, which have blurred portraits, faulty watermarks, and irregular security features.
He condemned the act as unpatriotic and urged the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies in addressing the issue.
