Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has issued an advisory urging Nigerians with U.S. visas to use them responsibly and comply with the stated purpose of their visa applications, following concerns from the U.S. Government about visa misuse.
The NIS warned that breaching visa conditions, such as overstaying or unauthorized activities, could lead to severe penalties, including visa revocation, deportation, or permanent ineligibility for U.S. travel. Nigerian students in the U.S. are advised to remain in active study programs to avoid visa cancellation.
The U.S. may deny tourist visas to those suspected of intending to give birth in the U.S. to secure citizenship for their children. The NIS emphasized compliance to maintain transparent visa processes and avoid expanded visa restrictions for Nigerians.
