South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has strongly rejected the U.S. Human Rights Report, labeling it inaccurate, biased, and a distortion of South Africa’s constitutional reality.
The report claimed that South Africa’s human rights situation had worsened, citing land expropriations, abuses against racial minorities, and extrajudicial killings, which DIRCO dismissed as misleading and based on discredited accounts.
DIRCO also criticized the U.S. for judging other countries while avoiding international oversight of its own human rights issues, such as racial inequality and systemic violence.
