Kelechi Nwakali’s camp has denied rumors that his contract with Barnsley was terminated, confirming the Nigerian midfielder remains under contract with the League One club until 2027.
Nwakali, who has not played this season, is likely to go on loan before the transfer window closes, seeking regular playing time. His brother, Allwell Nwakali, dismissed false reports, threatening legal action against those spreading misinformation. Despite Barnsley’s desire to keep him, Nwakali prefers a loan move, with interest from clubs in England and abroad.
Last season, he made 26 appearances for Barnsley, scoring once. A former Arsenal academy player, Nwakali previously had loan spells at MVV Maastricht, VVV Venlo, Porto, and played for Huesca, Alcorcón, Ponferradina, and Chaves.
