South African opposition leader Julius Malema has praised Nigeria’s historical support for South Africa’s anti-apartheid struggle,  urging both nations to lead the African Continental Free Trade Area to enhance economic integration.

While speaking at the Nigeria Bar Association’s Annual General Conference in Enugu , he criticized African governments for reckless borrowing from international lenders like the World Bank, advocating for stricter regulations to protect economic sovereignty.

He further called for a unified Africa with one president, currency, military command, and parliament, asserting that a unified African currency would be stronger than the U.S. dollar. He also, emphasized African unity against exploitation, insisting that African land and minerals belong to Africans and should be processed locally.
