Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, are expected to arrive home today after competing in the 31st FIBA AfroBasket in Angola, which ran from August 12 to 24.

The team was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Senegal, losing 91-75, but remained in Angola because their return tickets were scheduled for August 25.

Recall Nigeria topped Group B with wins over Madagascar, Tunisia, and Cameroon but was ousted by Senegal in the knockout stage. The team now prepares for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in November, aiming to qualify for the 2027 tournament in Qatar, after missing the 2023 edition.
