World Aquatics has awarded international training scholarships to Nigerian swimmers Clinton Opute and Collins Ebingha, recognizing their potential and supporting Nigeria’s swimming development. The scholarships, part of World Aquatics’ elite program, aim to provide access to top training facilities in Europe and prepare athletes for major competitions like the Olympics.
Ebingha’s scholarship runs from September 2025 to August 2026, while Opute’s extends from September 2025 to June 2028, in France and Hungary respectively.
Their selection reflects Nigeria’s progress in swimming, strengthened by strategic efforts from the National Sports Commission and the Nigeria Swimming Federation. Both athletes, who excelled at the 2024 National Sports Festival, are aged over 18 and are seen as promising contenders for Olympic qualification, boosting Nigeria’s profile on the international swimming stage.
