Director-General of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Adewale Oyerinde, has stated that the private sector is Nigeria’s largest employer, creating numerous jobs directly and through its value chains.

He challenged the notion that the government employs more Nigerians, emphasizing that private businesses sustain a broader scope of employment. Oyerinde highlighted that the impact of business closures extends beyond direct employees to include large numbers of indirect jobs in supply and distribution networks.

According to OYERINDE, Despite economic challenges, the private sector continues to drive job creation. In contrast however, the federal government employs about 720,000 civil servants.
