Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central is set to return to the Nigerian Senate later this month after completing her six-month suspension.

This is according to her lawyer, Victor Giwa who noted she is currently in London on vacation but plans to resume plenary when the Senate reconvenes on September 23. Giwa stated that there are no obstacles to her return and that the Senate leadership is expected to welcome her back.

Recall Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March for insubordination after refusing to change her designated seat during plenary, with her suspension also stripping her of aides and privileges. She claimed her suspension was related to her petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, which the Senate dismissed.

Despite challenging her suspension in court and securing a favorable judgment, the Senate insisted she remain suspended until the six months elapsed. Also, Her attempt to re-enter the Senate in July was blocked by security. However, her lawyer has  expressed confidence that legal disputes would soon be resolved and would not prevent her return.
