Federal Government has expressed deep concern over an Israeli airstrike in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday, reportedly targeting senior Hamas leaders.
In a statement issued Wednesday by Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, Nigeria condemned the strike, emphasizing respect for national sovereignty and international law. The government warned that the attack threatens regional stability and ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which escalated in October 2023 after Hamas’s attack on Israel, killing over 1,200 and triggering Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, where over 62,000 have died.
Nigeria commended Qatar’s mediation role, urged all parties to avoid escalation, and extended sympathies to those affected, reaffirming its commitment to global peace efforts through the United Nations.
