Federal High Court in Abuja has summoned the interim leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Senator David Mark, to appear on September 15 to explain why they should not be barred from being recognized by INEC.

This order follows a request by former Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, Nafiu Gombe, who claims the current leadership is illegitimate and seeks to prevent them from acting as party leaders.

The court declined to grant an immediate injunction and instead ordered the defendants—including the ADC, Mark, INEC, and other party officials—to appear and show cause. The case arises amid ongoing internal disputes within the ADC, especially after INEC recognized Mark’s faction. Other lawsuits challenge the legitimacy of Mark’s interim leadership, arguing it violates the party’s 2018 constitution and a 2022 court ruling.
