Burkina Faso has announced it will eliminate visa fees for all African nationals to promote Pan-African solidarity and facilitate free movement of people and goods. Travelers will still need to submit online applications for approval.
This move aligns with regional efforts to ease travel, as Burkina Faso joins Ghana, Rwanda, and Kenya in adopting policies to boost continental integration amid regional uncertainties, including its recent withdrawal from ECOWAS.
The policy aims to boost tourism and enhance Burkina Faso’s international visibility. Led by military leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who champions Pan-Africanism, the country continues to face security challenges from Islamist insurgents, with ongoing violence and instability despite closer ties with Russia.
