Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has launched a N50m Student Grant Venture Capital Initiative to support student-led enterprises in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
Announced during the inauguration of the Research and Innovation Commercialisation Committee in Abuja, the initiative, in partnership with TETFund and the Bank of India, targets undergraduate students at 300-level and above with viable business models and innovations ready for market expansion.
The goal is to bridge the gap between academia and industry, turning research into commercially viable products and services, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for a knowledge-driven economy. The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, emphasized the need to shift research from being a tool for academic promotion to a driver of development.
