President Bola Tinubu has announced the end of the six-month state of emergency in Rivers State, effective from September 18, 2025.

He stated that the emergency was initially declared to address governance paralysis caused by conflicts between the governor, lawmakers, and the Supreme Court’s ruling confirming the absence of a functioning government.

In the meantime, the governor, deputy governor, and the House of Assembly members are set to resume office tomorrow 18th September 2025.
