‎ Nigeria Immigration Service NIS has transitioned from multiple passport production centers to a single, centralized system for the first time in 62 years, marking a significant reform milestone.

Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced the completion of the new Centralised Passport Personalisation Centre at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja. He highlighted that the old machines produced only 250-300 passports daily, while the new system can handle 4,500-5,000 passports per day, enabling Nigeria to meet demand within four to five hours.

The initiative aims to improve efficiency and reduce passport delivery times from two weeks to about one week.
