Botswana has achieved a historic victory in the men’s 4x400m relay, winning gold in a dramatic race despite challenging weather conditions and strong US competition, which finished second by just two-thousandths of a second.
The US team, aiming to extend its dominance with nine of the last ten titles, led late into the race but was overtaken by Botswana’s Collen Kebinatshipi in a final surge.
Botswana’s team, featuring key athletes like Letsile Tebogo and Bayapo Ndori, celebrated their first-ever gold in this event, ending a long wait and earning national pride. The US and South Africa finished closely behind, while Belgium and other teams also competed strongly.
