‎ Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in New York to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, running from September 22 to 28, 2025.

Representing President Bola Tinubu, he will deliver Nigeria’s national statement, participate in high-level debates, and attend side events.

Key activities include announcing Nigeria’s new Nationally Determined Contributions NDCs under the Paris Agreement, engaging in bilateral meetings, and participating in discussions on global issues like housing and UN reforms.

Nigerian officials, including Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar, emphasized Nigeria’s leadership in promoting the UN Global Convention on Taxation and advocating for Africa’s bid for permanent UN Security Council seats, based on the Ezulwini Consensus and Sirte Declaration.
