Captain Sylvester Okpe of Nigeria’s men’s cricket team has attributed their heavy 117-wicket loss to Namibia in the International Cricket Council ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier to poor bowling execution.

Despite an initial win against Malawi, Nigeria struggled against Namibia, with Namibia’s Jan Frylinck scoring 134 runs and Louren Steenkamp adding 51 to set a target of 235/6.

According to Okpe, Nigeria’s bowlers showed effort, notably Isaac Danladi with four wickets, but Namibia’s disciplined batting led to Nigeria’s innings collapsing at 118 all out. Okpe also acknowledged the team’s shortcomings but remained optimistic about bouncing back, emphasizing improvements in bowling and batting. Nigeria’s next match is against Kenya, with a win necessary to advance to the semi-finals and secure a spot in the World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
