Federal Government  has committed $538.05 million to establish Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZs) in Kaduna, Cross River, and Ogun States, with plans for further expansion, aiming to transform food systems and boost agricultural productivity.

This initiative, leveraging private sector participation, is expected to attract an additional $1 billion by 2027. The SAPZs also  aim to promote value addition, create jobs, strengthen value chains, and enhance food security, aligning with the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) and the Malabo Declaration.

Additionally, the government has provided 2,000 tractors and launched the Nigeria Postharvest Systems Transformation Programme (NiPHaST) to address ₦3.5 trillion in annual post-harvest losses, improve value chains, and ensure food sovereignty.
