Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has proposed a law called the “Fly Nigerian Act” requiring public officials to fly Nigerian airlines on international routes.
Announced during the send-off of Air Peace’s inaugural Abuja-London flight, the law aims to promote local carriers by mandating government officials, lawmakers, and officials to prioritize Nigerian airlines when traveling abroad, unless no local airline operates that route.
Keyamo emphasized that this practice aligns with global standards where countries support their own airlines and stated that the bill would soon be introduced for approval.
