Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan, has assured that the upcoming Anambra State off-cycle governorship election will be peaceful and credible, citing extensive preparations and a collective commitment to non-violence.
During the signing of the Peace Accord organized by the National Peace Committee, he praised the effort’s role in reducing electoral tensions and emphasized that genuine commitment, not just signatures, is essential for peace.
INEC has prepared thoroughly, deploying 24,000 personnel and election materials across polling units, extending voter registration, and implementing measures to combat vote-buying. Additionally, Security will be reinforced by the Nigeria Police and Civil Defence, with support from traditional and religious leaders.
