Rivers State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating all forms of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) against women, girls, and other vulnerable groups. Speaking in Port Harcourt during an advocacy visit by the Centre for Gender, Conflict and Development Studies, University of Port Harcourt, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Benibo Anabraba, said Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains dedicated to protecting women’s welfare and enforcing laws against abuse.

Anabraba condemned acts such as rape, trafficking, and domestic violence, stressing that the government will neither tolerate nor condone such behaviour. He highlighted the enforcement of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law (VAPP Law) in the state and urged citizens to report abuse and support awareness efforts
