Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has strongly rejected US President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and his claims of “Christian genocide.”
The council dismissed these allegations as false, politically motivated, and aimed at inciting religious division.
NSCIA emphasized that violence in Nigeria is due to terrorism, criminality, poverty, and climate change, not genocide, and that both Muslims and Christians are victims.
While they accused pro-Israeli and far-right groups of driving the narrative to distract from the Gaza crisis and warned that inflaming religious tensions could destabilize Nigeria, the council further called for Nigerians to resist foreign interference, urging the U.S to support Nigeria with intelligence and aid, as they emphasized the need for security and unity.
