Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has addressed his recent confrontation with naval officer Lieutenant A.M. Yerima over a disputed land allegedly owned by former naval chief Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo.

Wike condemned the use of military personnel to impede lawful enforcement actions by FCT officials, criticizing the retired naval officer for illegal development and assault on staff. He emphasized that his dispute was a private matter and expressed respect for the military, distancing himself from any conflict with the armed forces.

Wike further condemned officer Yerima’s derogatory remarks were he tagged police officers on ground as “bloody police” and highlighted that influential Nigerians, including former leaders, handle land issues through communication rather than military intervention.
