Federal government has projected nearly $1 billion (about N1.49 trillion) in annual revenue from electricity exports to 15 West African countries starting from June 2026.

This estimate is based on Nigeria’s full 600 MW export capacity at regional tariffs and follows a successful grid synchronisation test conducted on November 8, 2025, involving Nigeria and neighboring West African nations.

The four-hour exercise demonstrated seamless power flow across borders, showcasing regional grid stability and Nigeria’s potential to serve as the regional power hub within the West African Power Pool. This milestone marks Nigeria’s first fully harmonised operation with the sub-region, advancing regional cooperation and power integration.
