House of Representatives has focused on rising insecurity across the country, calling for urgent government action. These Lawmakers highlighted causes like banditry, political violence, porous borders, and extremist ideology, urging the creation of a National Border Force and community policing.

They further criticized weak law enforcement, ransom negotiations, and insufficient funding, advocating for stronger laws and military drone use.

While they went ahead classifying the security situation is serious, with over 24,000 violent incidents annually, active insurgencies by Boko Haram and ISWAP, and 1.5 million displaced Nigerians, Northern leader Alhassan Doguwa described the crisis as a war across Nigeria, warning that if unaddressed, parliament might shut down.

Other speakers pointed to resource shortages in police forces, community involvement in crimes, and the impact on daily life and elections. They emphasized that current efforts are inadequate without stronger legal and non-kinetic measures, urging comprehensive reforms to address the rising insecurity.
