Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Opibi, has ruled out shutting down or relocating the institution’s satellite campuses despite recent robbery attacks targeting students at the Emuoha campus. Some students had protested last week, citing repeated assaults, harassment by locals, and loss of valuables, and demanded relocation to the main campus for safety.

Speaking during a briefing ahead of the university’s 37th and 38th combined convocation, Zeb-Opibi acknowledged the incidents but said the attackers were “isolated elements” attempting to tarnish the image of Emuoha community.

He stressed that the satellite campuses in Emuoha, Etche, Ahoada, and Sakpenwa were created with the approval of the Rivers State Government, and the university cannot close or relocate them without state consent
