Israel’s Defence Ministry has announced that its new laser-based air defence system, Iron Beam, has completed development and will be deployed by the end of December. The system, created over more than a decade in collaboration with Rafael and Elbit Systems, uses high-power lasers to intercept drones and other aerial threats at very low cost.

Officials say Iron Beam will significantly change battlefield dynamics and will complement existing systems such as Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow interceptors. The announcement comes amid heightened Israeli military activity against Hezbollah, despite an ongoing ceasefire
