The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of 48 properties linked to former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to the Federal Government. Delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had established sufficient suspicion that the assets were acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities.
The court dismissed multiple applications filed by Malami and his associates, emphasizing that the issue was not ownership of the properties but the legitimacy of the funds used to acquire them. Justice Abdulmalik noted that the respondents failed to disprove the EFCC’s allegations, leading to the forfeiture order being upheld.
