Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has denied any foul play in the death of Nurse Mary Habila, urging the public to stop politicising the incident.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Umahi described Habila as “like a daughter” and said she had worked with him for three years. He revealed that she had a history of medical treatment and was receiving care at the Turkish Hospital, with expenses covered by his family.
According to the minister, Habila was on a phone call with her boyfriend shortly before her death, during which she complained of a nosebleed. He said the boyfriend later tried calling back but received no response. Habila was later found dead in her locked room after the door was forced open, with the bathroom tap still running. Umahi insisted there was no basis for linking him to the incident and warned against using the nurse’s death for political purposes.
