Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Freetown, Sierra Leone, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. The summit, scheduled for Saturday at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre, will convene regional leaders, ministers, and officials to discuss critical issues affecting West Africa.
According to Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Shettima will join political and business leaders to deliberate on policies aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, peace, democracy, and economic growth.
The summit is part of ECOWAS’s mid-year review, focusing on security, governance, trade, infrastructure, and sustainable development amid ongoing regional challenges. Also, Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after the meeting.
