Ferran Torres’ decisive goal in the final helped La Roja gain enough ranking points to move into first place with 1,995.88 points, overtaking Argentina, who drop to second on 1,970.37 points.
France remain third despite their placement-match defeat to England, while England stay fourth after earning valuable ranking points. Brazil complete the top five after moving up one place.
Morocco continue as Africa’s highest-ranked nation in sixth place following their impressive World Cup run, while Egypt have overtaken Nigeria as Africa’s third-best team after reaching the Round of 16. Nigeria remain 26th in the world but fall to fourth on the continent.
