The Federal Government has launched a three-day Master Training Workshop aimed at enhancing teachers’ professional development through mobile-based learning, targeting at least 2,000 teachers and school leaders nationwide. The initiative, emphasizing support for female school leaders, is a collaborative effort involving the Federal Ministry of Education, the Government of Japan, UNESCO-IICBA, Pan-African University, and Castalia Co. Ltd., under the Pan-African Virtual and Electronic University (PAVEU) initiative.
Speaking at the opening, Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, highlighted the program’s role in improving teacher quality and digital innovation in Nigeria’s education sector, aligned with the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI).
Participants are being trained in digital literacy, AI in education, gender-responsive pedagogy, and mobile learning platforms, with Japan investing approximately US$1 million and providing tablets and devices to support nationwide rollout.
