Esther Nworgu has won Team Nigeria’s first gold medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. The 24-year-old para powerlifter set a new Games record twice in the women’s lightweight category, lifting 123 kilograms to score 119 points and claim the gold medal. Nworgu received a total reward of 10-thousand dollars from the National Sports Commission for her victory.
