Budget Office of the Federation (BOF) has clarified that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), which the presidency declared as a fake entity and is now under investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), originated from the previous administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Director-General of the BOF, Mr. Tanimu Yakubu, made the statement after appearing before the House of Representatives in Abuja, explaining that the PFIPC had its roots in the Presidential Economic Advisory Council inaugurated on October 9, 2019.

He stated that the agency was allocated funds in the 2026 budget based on official instruments issued by relevant government institutions, not created or approved by the Budget Office. Mr. Yakubu further detailed how the Council initially submitted a personnel estimate of N3.85 billion, which the Budget Office reduced to approximately N803 million using established public service guidelines, and emphasized that the reduction was a fiscal judgment made independently by his office, not a concession to the Council.
