Jannik Sinner has advanced to the Wimbledon quarter-finals after Grigor Dimitrov retired due to a pectoral injury during their match, with Sinner trailing by two sets.
Despite reaching his seventh consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final, Sinner expressed no joy in the victory, focusing instead on Dimitrov’s well-being, noting the Bulgarian’s history of injuries in recent Grand Slams.
Sinner, who also sustained an elbow injury during the match, assisted a tearful Dimitrov off the court and called for applause for him. Sinner will undergo an MRI on his elbow and faces Ben Shelton next.
