FIFA President Gianni Infantino has sent a letter to all 211 member associations offering up to $40 million approximately (£30 million) to those supporting his proposal to sell stakes in major FIFA competitions.
The plan, outlined in a five-page letter, states that associations approving the initiative by September 19 will receive an initial $20 million approximately(£15 million) from January 2027, with an additional $20 million to follow.
The proposal involves creating a new subsidiary, FIFA Forward Enterprise, to manage key tournaments like the World Cups and Club World Cup, allowing external investors to buy minority stakes. Infantino claims the initiative could generate up to $10 billion approximately(£7.52 billion) to fund global football development.
