Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has blamed the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State on Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s decision to establish an independent political structure.
Wike stated that this move, made within the first 100 days of Fubara’s tenure, undermined his chances of securing a second term and caused a breakdown in their relationship.During a media interview in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike explained that Fubara’s attempt to distance himself from his political supporters was influenced by advisers encouraging independence from those who helped him rise to power.
Wike criticized this early push for political autonomy, calling it a mistake that fueled a serious dispute. He also advised Fubara to prioritize governance and development over political battles.
