Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, has stated that Afrobeats could have achieved greater success if prominent artists like Wizkid had collaborated more frequently.
Discussing the genre’s global rise on the Afropolitan podcast, he compared it to Latin music, which he credits for its international success to strong collaborations among artists such as J Balvin, Nicky Jam, and Bad Bunny.
Asika emphasized that increased collaboration among Afrobeats artists would boost the genre’s global appeal, suggesting that joint projects could enhance international recognition and strengthen the genre’s market value at global events. He further expressed the view that if Davido, Wizkid, and other leading artists worked together more often, Afrobeats’ success and influence would likely be even greater.
