Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by Agriculture Minister Abubakar Kyari has announced at the SAPZ Programme groundbreaking in Ijaiye, Ibadan, that the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) will drive an industrial revolution in Nigeria’s agriculture sector, fostering innovation and inclusive prosperity.
The initiative, part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to establish agro-industrial hubs to empower farmers and processors, stimulate local economies, and enhance Nigeria’s global market competitiveness. SAPZ, supported by the Federal Government, state governments, and international partners like the African Development Bank, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Islamic Development Bank, seeks to transform agricultural resources into value-added products, create jobs, and uplift farmers.
The program will expand to 27 additional states by Q1 2026, following financing agreements.
