Las Vegas Aces have clinched the 2025 WNBA (women national basketball association )championship with a 97–86 win over the Phoenix Mercury, completing a Finals sweep and capturing their third title in four years.
A’ja Wilson starred with 31 points and nine rebounds, earning both the Finals MVP and becoming the first player in WNBA history to win MVP, Finals MVP, and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.
Phoenix showed resilience, cutting a 16-point halftime deficit to six in the fourth quarter behind Kahleah Copper’s 30 points, but fell short after coach Nate Tibbetts was ejected for arguing a foul call.
For Phoenix, the loss marked their second Finals defeat in five years, as injuries to Satou Sabally (concussion) and Alyssa Thomas (shoulder) hampered their chances. Thomas said she remained proud, noting, “No one expected us to even be here.”
The win cements the Aces’ dynasty status, with Wilson’s historic season placing her among the greatest players in WNBA history.
