Federal Government has debunked reports claiming it stopped revenue-generating agencies from deducting their cost of collection at source, describing the reports as “inaccurate and misleading.”
In a statement by Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Finance Mohammed Manga the government clarified that no policy change has been made and that the existing cost-of-collection framework remains in effect.
The ministry explained that discussions are ongoing to review the structure in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to enhance transparency and efficiency in public financial management, but no final decision has been reached.
It assured that revenue operations continue uninterrupted, and any future changes will follow due process and stakeholder engagement.
The statement also urged the media to verify information before publication to prevent misinformation.
The clarification follows media reports misquoting Minister of Finance Wale Edun as saying deductions would be halted during the World Bank’s Nigeria Development Update event in Abuja
