World number two Carlos Alcaraz, five-time Grand Slam champion has withdrawn from the ATP Canadian Open in Toronto to recover after losing to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon final.
The 22-year-old Spaniard was disappointed to miss the event where he reached the quarter-finals in 2023, as he cited the need for recovery.
Also,?Tournament director Karl Hale has expressed regret but noted future opportunities for fans to see Alcaraz.
Meanwhile American Sebastian Korda and Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz also withdrew due to leg and knee injuries, respectively.
